Dress Code

Installation in the rehearsing space

The Dress Code, a three-week workshop in the Institut International de la Marionnette in Charleville-Mézières, France in July, 2010

My goal was to organise a devising-theatre laboratory with the group of ambitious young artists interested in self- and dress exploration. I found them among my ex- and present-day students from Finland, Norway, France, and Lithuania and together we went to work on the Blue Beard myth. The result of this workshop that was partly led by Rene Baker and consisted of a number of improvisations on the theme was the show To the End of Love which premiered (though with a different set of players) in  May, 2011 in Turku, Finland and travelled to the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes  de Charleville-Mézières, France, September 2011.

The workshop participants: Anna Ivanova-Brashinskaya, Finland; Rene Baker, UK; Polina Borisova, France; Vitalia Samuilova, Lithuania; Yngvild Aspeli, Norway;  Laura Hallantie, Finland; Antti-Juhani Männinen, Finland; Merja Pöyhönen, Finland;  Roosa Halme, Finland; Nanna Mäkinen, Finland;  Elina Putkinen, Finland;  Irina Kachelina, Finland
